In this season of lockdown the world has been inspired by the ingenuity of many people who are making a difference from their homes. The success of virtual choirs is an excellent example of this. However nobody expected the runaway success of the UK Blessing
The UK Blessing YouTube video had close on 400,000 views on its debut day alone which is phenomenal. It has now been viewed by nearly four million people!
The UK blessing brings churches across the country together as their worship leaders sing a UK version of the Elevation Worship song “The Blessing” which is based on Numbers 6:24-26.
What a beautiful scripture to confess over our nation at this time when over 42,000 people have died from Covid-19 and many are grieving and or facing a tough future in one way or another.
“The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”
The UK Blessing
The video starts off with the simple message: “Churches around the UK have come together at this time to sing a blessing over the nation…”
According to the UK Blessing YouTube page over 65 churches and movements have participated in the project. “Standing together as one, our desire is that this song will fill you with hope and encourage you.
“But the Church is not simply singing a blessing, each day we’re looking to practically be a blessing. Many of the churches included in this song have assisted with supplying over 400,000 meals to the most vulnerable and isolated in our nation since Covid-19 lockdown began. This alongside phone calls to the isolated, pharmacy delivery drops and hot meals to the NHS frontline hospital staff.
“Our buildings may not be operating at full capacity, but the Church is very much alive!”
In addition to the beautiful voices of many different British worship leaders the UK Blessing features the Kingdom Choir.
The original Song “The Blessing” was written by Chris Brown, Cody Carnes, Kari Jobe and Steven Furtick. Sung by Cody Carnes, Kari Jobe and Elevation Worship.
