Sounds of New Wine (SONW) is the music ministry of New Wine Church, London, England. The team is made up of 135 singers, musicians, engineers and stage managers, who are committed to a close walk with God and are passionate about music and its power to uplift, encourage, inspire and bring people into greater levels of intimacy with God.
Glory Be To God is their latest release which you can watch below. Speaking about the new song, New Wine pastor, Kola Taiwo says: “I believe this song encapsulates our heartfelt joy and gratitude to God Almighty for keeping us alive during this season. I also believe that both individuals and the Body of Christ will become stronger and more focused on God’s interests as we go forward because of what God has done in this season to preserve us.”
Glory Be To God is based on a Nigerian song written in the Yoruba language. Sounds of New Wine have translated it into English so the Church worldwide can enjoy it. The music video, which brings a virtual choir together to sing a bus stops across London as well as on other large scale outdoor displays is a part of the New Wine Church Christmas Hamper Campaign. All proceeds from the sale of this single will go towards supporting disadvantaged people including some who have no homes.
New Wine is a London-based community church, committed to helping people discover, develop and deploy the gifts, talents and potential that God has placed within them. The New Wine Choir is a ministry that has been growing over 25 years and has shared the stage with some of the best-loved names in Gospel music in the UK and globally. These include Israel Houghton, Nathaniel Bassey, Martha Munizzi, Mary Mary, Muyiwa Riversongz, Ron Kenoly, Micah Stampley and Mark Beswick and others.
Sounds of New Wine is led by its Creative Director, Lawrence Johnson, who is also co-founder of the London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) and founder of 90’s groups, Nu-Colours and Truce. Lawrence has worked closely with Stevie Wonder, Sir Paul McCartney, Tina Turner, Tori Kelly and with Simon Cowell as the vocal arranger on X-Factor and does vocal arrangements for artists such as Sam Smith.
“Sounds of New Wine delivers a unique mix of melodies that combines hip-hop, with Afro beats, reggae and soulful music that share messages of hope, inspiration, joy and God’s unfailing love,” Lawrence says. “Our desire is that those who hear our music will experience a fresh presence of God and be enriched in their spirits to propel them into the fullness of God purposes for their lives.”
